PAN-AFRICAN EDITORIAL INSTITUTION
African stories told at the level they
HOW WE THINK
Two beliefs that shape everything we build.
Storyhouse is not a communications agency. We are an editorial institution built on convictions about what African stories deserve and who should own them. Those convictions shape every client engagement we take on and every property we develop for ourselves.
The story and the value belong together.
We produce, publish, and own what we make.
When African stories are produced on commission for external clients and platforms, the IP leaves the continent and the value accumulates elsewhere. Storyhouse is structured differently. We work with clients and we build properties we own. Because the long-term health of African creative culture depends on African creators retaining what they make.
Writing well about Africa requires knowing it deeply.
Not from the outside. From within it.
The difference between competent writing and writing that resonates is understanding: context, register, institutional landscape, and cultural complexity. A ghostwritten book lands differently when the writer understands the world the executive operates in. An institutional report carries more authority when the editor knows the sector from the inside. That depth of knowledge is what Storyhouse brings to every engagement, whether we are serving a client or building our own catalogue.
what we do
Three ways to work with us.
The Studio operates with strictly limited availability each quarter. We engage through institutional retainers, executive project commissions, and strategic co-production partnerships. Every engagement begins with a conversation. Pricing is discussed directly and is never one-size-fits-all.
Institutional
Editorial
We partner with African organisations, foundations, and development institutions to transform their knowledge and impact into published content that builds authority: executive essays, flagship reports, impact narratives, and thought leadership series.
RETAINER ENGAGEMENT
Executive Ghostwriting
We work with African executives, public figures, and thought leaders to develop the books, essays, keynotes, and bodies of published work their careers and ideas deserve. Your thinking, shaped and written to the standard it merits.
PROJECT & RETAINER
In Development
Properties built to outlast the moment.
Beyond client work, Storyhouse is building a catalogue of African IP we own. These are the first four properties in development.
01
African Sporting Heritage
Co-produced with the Multi-Ethnic Sports Hall of Fame, preserving the stories of overlooked African athletes whose legacies are at risk of disappearing.
02
The Reflections Series
Pan-African development, philanthropy, and civil society, told by the partners, beneficiaries, and leaders who built it from the inside.
03
Wheels Up / Wheels Down
A premium travel and cultural intelligence publication for globally minded African travellers: podcast, newsletter, and long-form editorial.
04
The Storyhouse Programme
A bi-annual fellowship for African writers and researchers whose work deserves a platform. Selected fellows receive dedicated editorial development and publication through the Boayen Storyhouse imprint.
“African stories are not a charity case. They are an asset class.”

THE BOAYEN STORYHOUSE PHILOSOPHY
Who we serve
Built for those with something worth saying.
We work with organisations, executives, and institutions who have important things to say, and who want to say them with the craft, intention, and impact those ideas deserve.
Organisations & Foundations
African institutions seeking to transform their knowledge, impact, and ideas into published content that builds authority and reaches the audiences that matter.
Executives & Public Figures
African leaders with ideas and perspectives worth publishing: books, keynotes, essay series, and bodies of thought leadership developed with care and precision.
Creative & Cultural Institutions
Partners in co-production, oral history, and cultural documentation, and organisations whose work generates stories worth preserving and audiences worth reaching.
